A BMW ownerwith a 2004 BMW X
N62 R53 4.4 was towed into the shop today.
The customer said he had a no start condition and his regular mechanic has no time to look at it.  

After looking at the R53, we told him we love a challenge.
His answer was can I have it tomorrow.  (See photo)
Like the title reads live &learn
I guess his regular guy is good at talking Baydiagnostic.com is good at fixing.

It winds up that the only thing that was causing The X 5  no start was a leaky oil level sensor that shorted out.  We  replaced it, and changed his oil( only over due by 3000 miles) cleaned up  the mess his guy did . Returned the BMW to him in Manhattan. On a side note his guy only charged him for half the time he spent on the X-5 . Like I said live and learn

Why Should I?

The other day the owner of a local repair shop came to  BAY DIAGNOSTIC to speak to me.

The shop owner wanted to know if we would LOAN him all of the TOOLS & INFORMATION to repair

a  2007 VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG TDI 5.0 V10 BWF that was currently in his shop.

Our answer was NO, but not for the reason you think...

Our reason is simple if you don't have what you need to do the JOB..... Don't do the job.

His response was, as you can imagine, not good. After a few choice words he left.

 

Here are the real reasons

1-   If the owner  has not invested in his REPAIR SHOP,  that's bad

2-   This means the shop really has not performed the service or repair  -  that's really BAD

3-   If the shop is telling you that they are equipped and do this job regularly, well, what else are they lying         about? 

My advice to all, where ever you go, ask to be shown the repair tools, the information system and most

importantly  what parts are they using.

Take your time, get a PPI

Today, we had a caller interested in having his car checked.  He called at 
8:15 am.  I told him that's why we show up at Bay Diagnostic.

After a little chat, I found out that what he really wanted was a PPI  (pre purchase inspection) He wanted a vehicle checked before he bought the car. Now comes the reason for the call, he is being pressured by the seller (a car dealer) who is insisting that this is not necessary and NO SHOP is good at telling the condition of a vehicle.

www.baydiagnostic.com explained that this statement is CRAZY. We also told the buyer that these days it takes a long time to save up money to buy a luxury vehicle like the AUDI that he wanted us to check for him.

So here are the instructions Bay Diagnostic gave to him and we are telling

anyone who is thinking of buying a pre-owned European car:

                    1. Test drive the car in the streets & on the highway

                    2. Have a shop check the car (takes approximately 2-3 hours

                        to do and yes, it will be the best $ you will ever spend

                    3. If you get any grief from the seller --- 

                        GO SOMEWHERE ELSE - they made more than 1 car

                    4. If there is something that needs repairing or servicing --

                        You do it this way so you know what you are getting 

                        ( have them take it off the sale price)

                    5. Most of all, like they say, Buy with your head not your heart.
